A Symphony of Excess: Reviewing the Upcoming Emperor’s Children Release

A Symphony of Excess: Reviewing the Upcoming Emperor’s Children Release

Wargame Portal Customer Service |

When Games Workshop revealed the Emperor’s Children Army Set: Champions of Slaanesh, our excitement was palpable. Known for their excess, opulence, and theatrical flair, the Emperor’s Children have long captured the imaginations of Warhammer 40,000 enthusiasts, and this set does not disappoint.

At first glance, the set impresses with its sheer volume: 33 brand-new, beautifully detailed miniatures that perfectly encapsulate the decadent spirit of Slaanesh. The centerpiece, the Lord Exultant, is particularly striking.

Equipped with multiple weapon options—including the phoenix power spear and rapture lash—alongside customizable power packs and head choices, this model provides ample opportunities for personalization, ensuring every player’s Lord Exultant feels unique.

Noise Marines, always fan favorites, come richly equipped with extensive customization options for heads, shoulders, and sonic weapon muzzles. The inclusion of Disharmonists enhances the unit’s versatility, allowing players to diversify their army’s roles and tactical strategies. Additionally, the flexibility to assemble the included 20 Space Marines as either Tormentors or Infractors further broadens this set’s appeal. The Tormentors are perfect for players favoring ranged combat, while Infractors cater to those who relish brutal close-quarters engagements.

The Codex: Emperor’s Children is another standout feature of the box. Clocking in at 112 pages, this tome is not just a rulebook—it's a collector's piece, adorned with luxurious pink foil accents, classic artwork, and an elegant black ribbon marker.

Inside, players will discover a treasure trove of lore, vibrant miniature photography, and detailed rules that breathe life into their army on the tabletop.

The datasheet cards and expansive transfer sheet (featuring 150 decals) round out this premium package, ensuring players have everything they need for immediate, immersive gameplay.

Comparatively, Combat Patrol: Aeldari offers a refined, tactical experience with its carefully selected composition. Including a Spiritseer, Wraithblades, Warp Spiders, and Dire Avengers, this patrol exemplifies the finesse and strategic depth that defines the Aeldari. While it may not boast the flamboyant customization options found in the Emperor’s Children set, the tactical synergies between Aspect Warriors and wraith constructs present in this box promise rewarding gameplay experiences.

Both of these exciting sets will be available during our After Dark event at Midnight EST on Saturday, March 1st. As always, if numbers allow, PortalPass+ customers will have the opportunity to reserve their spot in line, avoiding the midnight rush and ensuring peace of mind. Subscribers will receive an email with the reserve form and more details on Friday afternoon, and they'll have seven days after launch to complete their purchase.

The Emperor’s Children Army Set is already generating huge excitement among Chaos Space Marine fans, combining lavish aesthetics, extensive customization, and deep lore—perfect for collectors and commanders alike. Meanwhile, Combat Patrol: Aeldari offers a focused and powerful force designed for precise, tactical gameplay. Don't miss out—secure your set as soon as pre-orders go live!
