Codex: Aeldari and New Releases – A Review

Codex: Aeldari and New Releases – A Review

Mac Russell |

It’s an exciting week for Aeldari players, with a slew of new releases hitting shelves that showcase stunning miniatures and long-awaited updates. From sleek Phoenix Lords to revamped Aspect Warriors, this wave offers something for collectors and competitive players alike. Here’s what you can expect when these items go up for preorder at The After Dark: Midnight EST on 01/25.

Codex: Aeldari

The latest Codex for the Aeldari faction is here, packed with updated rules, lore, and stunning artwork. At 192 pages, it offers eight Detachments that cater to a variety of playstyles, from Harlequin trickery to Ynnari heroics. Whether you’re building a Combat Patrol or diving into Crusade campaigns, the rules and datasheets in this book are comprehensive.

For collectors, there’s a special edition Codex with teal foil page edges, unique cover art, and a ribbon bookmark. Unfortunately, this edition is exclusive to Warhammer.com, so it won’t be available through Wargame Portal.

Phoenix Lords

Baharroth, Fuegan, Lhykhis and Asurmen lead the charge as some of the most detailed Aeldari miniatures to date. These plastic kits perfectly balance dynamic poses with intricate details, from Baharroth’s Shining Blade to Fuegan’s flaming Searsong. Asurmen, with his wrist-mounted shuriken catapults and diresword, is a standout centerpiece for any Aeldari collection.

Aspect Warriors

The new Aspect Warrior kits are where this release really shines.

  • Warp Spiders: Their sleek design and dynamic posing embody the precision strike tactics they’re known for. The kit includes optional helmetless heads and Exarch loadout options, like quad powerblades or spinneret rifles. Bonus points for the shrine statue and extensive transfer sheet.
  • Swooping Hawks: These are some of the best flying models Games Workshop has done, with stunning wing details and clear Exarch options like sunpistols and scatter lasers. They’ll look incredible soaring across any battlefield.
  • Fire Dragons: Clad in heavy armor and armed with fusion guns, these models exude power and purpose. The Exarch loadout options, like the firepike and Dragon’s breath flamer, add flexibility to their role as tank hunters.

Vehicles and Support Units

The Wave Serpent and War Walkers are back in updated packaging, combining versatility and firepower. The Wave Serpent doubles as a Falcon Grav Tank build option, making it a great value for players. The War Walker kit includes two models, perfect for adding mobility and ranged firepower to your army.

Accessories

Don’t forget the Aeldari dice and datasheet cards. The orange gem-effect dice are striking and perfectly themed, while the 71-card reference deck is a must-have for quick gameplay access.

Final Thoughts

This release sets a high standard for both model design and gameplay updates. Whether you’re a veteran Aeldari player or just starting out, these miniatures are worth your attention. Don’t miss the chance to grab them at After Dark: Midnight EST on 01/25.

No, as it states towards the beginning of the article, we did not have access (nor do we ever) to those special edition codexes.

Wargame Portal,

Will y’all have pre-orders for the Collector’s Edition too?
