Review: Edmark Valoran, The Manticore Knight — Warhammer Quest: Darkwater

Review: Edmark Valoran, The Manticore Knight — Warhammer Quest: Darkwater

The first hero revealed for Warhammer Quest: Darkwater is none other than Edmark Valoran, The Manticore Knight, and he’s every bit as intense as his title suggests.

Valoran is a perfect blend of classic heroism and barely restrained fury. Once celebrated as one of Hammerhal Aqsha’s greatest champions, his story now teeters on tragedy. After being struck by shards of Aqshian realmstone, Valoran’s body became a conduit for elemental fire, turning him into a living weapon as dangerous to allies as to enemies. Thematically, that’s right in line with the tone of Darkwater—redemption, corruption, and the fine line between hero and monster.

Visually, the model looks set to deliver exactly that. While full shots haven’t been released yet, early glimpses and the lore point toward a heavily armored knight with scorched ornamentation, likely wreathed in sculpted flame effects to capture that moment of fiery transformation. If the rest of the heroes follow this baroque, tragic aesthetic, Darkwater could become one of the most visually striking Warhammer Quest sets yet.

From a narrative perspective, Valoran’s inclusion is a strong move. He’s not a clean-cut hero; he’s a man burdened by guilt, driven by rage, and seeking redemption through fire. It’s a grounded character archetype that feels right at home in the Mortal Realms’ darker corners.

The best part? This is only the beginning. WarCom hinted that more hero reveals are coming, and if Edmark Valoran is any indication, Darkwater might just be the most ambitious Warhammer Quest installment yet.
