Individual Release Wave of Saturnine is Coming - A Review

Wargame Portal Customer Service |

The Horus Heresy continues to surge forward with a lineup that takes the fight to an entirely new level. This week’s releases split apart the core of the Saturnine boxset, giving players the chance to pick up key units individually – along with some fresh surprises. Here’s what’s worth your attention.

Saturnine Praetor

A powerhouse on the battlefield, this Praetor embodies everything a Legion commander should be. The kit comes brimming with options: a concussion hammer, Saturnine war axe, plasma blaster, and a mix of decorative elements to customize your build. Flexible posing options and a scenic base make this a standout character kit.

Saturnine Terminator Squad

These Terminators are walking fortresses, clad in Saturnine-pattern armor and armed with brutal disintegrator weapons. The kit offers multiple heads, weapon swaps, and customization tabs for easy or advanced posing. Perfect for those who want their elite troops to look as mean as they play.

Saturnine Siege Dreadnoughts

Standing even taller than a Leviathan, the Saturnine Siege Dreadnought is the centerpiece of this wave.

  • Chiron Configuration – Mid-range devastation with disintegrator cannons, plasma bombarders, and chest-mounted weapons. This is the variant found in the Saturnine Launch Box.

  • Ophion Configuration – The new variant introduces an inversion beamer, graviton pulveriser, and particle shredders for a very different battlefield role.

Both configurations come loaded with aesthetic options: Loyalist/Traitor markings, halo, trim variations, and multiple faceplates.

Supporting Kits and Upgrades

  • Centurion with Power Maul – A solid character choice with a distinct Crusade-era vibe.

  • MkII Veteran Squad with Disintegrators – Ten hardened Legionaries equipped with exotic disintegrator weapons, making for a deadly tactical unit.

  • Disintegrator Weapons Upgrade Set – Extra frames to outfit MkII, MkIII, or MkVI squads.

  • Araknae Quad Accelerator Platform – A massive emplacement with defensive shielding and heavy firepower.

  • Legiones Astartes Drop Pod – Classic, iconic, and back for the Heresy.

  • Age of Darkness Markers, Tokens, and Dice – Clean, functional accessories to streamline your games.

On the Hobby Side

  • White Dwarf 515 delivers a Space Marine-heavy issue with hobby guides, rules for a  Space Marine 2 inspired mini-game, and exclusive decals.

  • The End and the Death: Volume III closes out the Siege of Terra saga – a must-read for lore enthusiasts.

The Verdict

This wave has something for every Heresy collector. The Ophion Dreadnought is a standout, giving players a new reason to expand their forces, while the individual kits allow for flexibility if you missed the original box.

Caveat: while these kits are excellent, the Saturnine Boxset remains the best bang for your buck. It packs far more value than buying these pieces separately. As of today, stock seems to be in good supply for that boxset, so we are taking reserves on those currently.
