The Winter Battleforces: A Clash Across the Galaxy and Realms

Wargame Portal Customer Service |

As the year draws to a close, Games Workshop brings forth an avalanche of new Battleforces — grand collections that bundle key units, characters, and monstrous war machines into thematic, ready-to-field armies. Whether you fight for the Imperium of Man, the corrupt legions of Chaos, the alien swarms of the Tyranids, or the warring factions of the Mortal Realms, these boxes represent some of the best ways to bolster your forces and dive headlong into battle.

Let’s take a tour through the carnage.

Warhammer 40,000 Battleforces

Iron Halo Strike Force – Space Marines

The stalwart defenders of the Imperium get a strong showing this season. The Iron Halo Strike Force packs the versatility and firepower of a modern Chapter — a Captain leads elite Company Heroes and Sternguard Veterans into battle, while Hellblasters burn through heretics with incandescent plasma. The real backbone comes from its Redemptor and Ballistus Dreadnoughts, providing a devastating mix of close- and long-range might. It’s a true strike force of legends — disciplined, dependable, and ready for any front.

Hellforged Warband – Chaos Space Marines

For those who serve darker masters, the Hellforged Warband is the twisted reflection of the loyalist’s discipline. A Lord Discordant atop a mechanical Helstalker commands a Venomcrawler, two Obliterators, and five Havocs, supported by ten Legionaries and a Chaos Rhino. Every model in this set oozes warp-tainted aggression — a warband that screams corruption, power, and metal twisted into heresy.

Emperor’s Children – Blissbound Warband

The followers of Slaanesh make their decadent return under Fulgrim, Daemon Primarch of Excess. His Blissbound Warband includes six Flawless Blades, duellists whose every motion is perfection incarnate, and six Noise Marines who unleash sonic torture across the battlefield. Elegant, lethal, and utterly deranged — this box is pure excess in plastic form, and a must for those who like their carnage symphonic.

Krieg Siege Platoon – Astra Militarum

The grim resolve of the Death Korps of Krieg manifests in the Krieg Siege Platoon, led by a Lord Commissar and Command Squad. Backed by 20 hardened infantry, Combat Engineers, and Artillery Teams capable of fielding everything from heavy mortars to quad launchers, this set captures the methodical brutality of trench warfare. Grim, efficient, and unsentimental — this is the Imperium at its most iron-willed.

Cthonian Prospect – Leagues of Votann

The Kin of the Votann send out their Cthonian Prospect, a mining expedition-turned-military powerhouse. A Brôkhyr Iron-master leads with Ironkin assistants and E-COGs, alongside Thunderkyn, Earthshakers, and a customizable Kapricus Defender or Carrier. Rounding them out are 10 Cthonian Beserks, whose sheer muscle ensures no claim remains uncontested. It’s an expeditionary force built for those who prefer industry — and artillery — in equal measure.

Crusher Stampede – Tyranids

If the recent Tyranid releases weren’t monstrous enough, the Crusher Stampede unleashes a nightmare zoo of bioforms. A Neurotyrant with its synaptic nodes coordinates a Screamer-Killer, Tyrannofex, Haruspex, and Maleceptor. Each can be built into alternate forms, letting hobbyists tailor their swarm. It’s the perfect set for those who want the biggest, hungriest, and most horrifying beasts the Hive Mind can spawn.

Farsight Cadre – T’au Empire

Precision, technology, and rebellion define the Farsight Cadre. Commander Farsight leads from the front with a Riptide Battlesuit, Broadside, and Crisis Battlesuit Team, supported by eight drones. This is a beautifully cohesive set for players who prefer sleek firepower, careful positioning, and the occasional heroic charge of a red-armoured rebel commander.

Warhammer: Age of Sigmar Battleforces

Skryre Warpswarm – Skaven

The Great Horned Rat’s most deranged inventors return in the Skryre Warpswarm, a rolling tide of sparks, fumes, and barely stable weaponry. An Arch-Warlock commands 20 Stormvermin, three Warplock Jezzails, five Acolyte Globadiers, and a Warpspark Weapon Battery bristling with options like Warpvolt Scourgers or Warpfire Throwers. This box screams chaos, danger, and unholy ingenuity — a perfect reflection of the Skaven mindset.

Lances of the Crimson Keep – Soulblight Gravelords

The immortal knight Prince Vhordrai leads his cursed host from the spectral Crimson Keep. Mounted upon his Revenant Draconith Shordemaire, he rides alongside 10 Blood Knights and three Fell Bats. The result is a fast, hard-hitting cavalry army that tears through mortal defenders before vanishing back into the mists. Elegant horror meets aristocratic fury in this blood-soaked set.

Dankhold Rampage – Gloomspite Gitz

The troggs are loose! The Dankhold Rampage celebrates raw, fungal strength led by Trugg the Troggoth King. His entourage includes a Dankhold Troggboss, six Rockgut Troggoths, and three Fellwater Troggoths, all ready to crush and drown the foe in slime. Few boxes offer as much raw mass and monstrous character — it’s a rampage in every sense.

Outcast Spitegrove – Sylvaneth

In the deep shadows of Ghyran, Drycha Hamadreth leads her outcasts in rebellion. The Outcast Spitegrove brings her together with a Spirit of Durthu, 15 Spite-Revenants, and 20 Dryads — a wild, aggressive forest army overflowing with haunting energy. The alternate builds (Treelord variants and Tree-Revenants) ensure hobby flexibility alongside its eerie aesthetic.

Verdict: The Season of Excess and Power

From the gilded arrogance of the Emperor’s Children to the industrious might of the Cthonian Prospect and the haunting woods of the Sylvaneth, this season’s Battleforces span the full breadth of the grimdark and the fantastical. Each set not only represents a massive discount compared to buying separately but also serves as a thematic snapshot of its faction — playable right out of the box and expandable into full armies.

Whether you crave divine perfection, alien evolution, vampiric nobility, or fungal brutality, there’s a Battleforce here with your name on it.

All boxes will be available to pre-order later this year.
