The Big Autumn Warhammer Preview Is Coming Friday

Games Workshop has announced its next major reveal event, and this one is covering almost everything.

The Big Autumn Warhammer Preview will broadcast Friday, September 18, with reveals planned for Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar, Kill Team, The Old World, Blood Bowl, The Horus Heresy, Necromunda, Warhammer+, and Warhammer Quest. The show begins at 7 p.m. UK time, or 2 p.m. Eastern and 1 p.m. Central for viewers in the United States.

That is a wide spread of systems, but GW has already given us enough information to know where some of the bigger announcements are likely to land.

Another Warhammer 40,000 Codex Is Coming

The headline item for 40K players is confirmation that the next Warhammer 40,000 codex will be revealed during the show.

Games Workshop has not identified the faction yet, so there is not much value in trying to turn silhouettes and wishlists into certainty. We will know Friday. The rumor mill has it's guesses, but as some say, "all rumors are lies."

With Space Marines currently entering their own codex release cycle, however, the announcement confirms that the 11th Edition rollout is continuing quickly.

Age of Sigmar Is Getting Something Much Bigger, well, sort of.

The first actual model teaser belongs to Age of Sigmar.

Games Workshop revealed a Gholem of Gazul, a heavily armored construct that marches with the war throngs of the Khazalite Holds, described directly by GW as an all-new Duardin faction. More of their lore, rules, and miniatures will be shown during Friday's reveal.

That makes this more than a single character or unit tease.

An entirely new Duardin faction has the potential to become one of the more important Age of Sigmar reveals of the year, particularly for players who have wanted another interpretation of the Mortal Realms' dwarven cultures beyond the Kharadron Overlords and Fyreslayers.

For now, though, the Gholem is all GW has actually shown. Anything beyond that is speculation.

Kill Team and The Old World Are Both on the List

Kill Team will receive a new team, while The Old World is getting what GW describes as a host of new miniatures.

That wording makes The Old World particularly worth watching. We do not yet know whether these are additions to an existing range, characters, returning designs, or something larger, so we are not going to fill in the blanks before GW does.

The same applies to the new Kill Team. We know one is coming. We do not yet know who is inside it.

And That Still Is Not Everything

Blood Bowl is getting a new team, and GW has also confirmed announcements for The Horus Heresy, Necromunda, Warhammer+, and Warhammer Quest.

That makes Friday's presentation substantially broader than a single-system preview.

For Wargame Portal customers, the most immediately relevant announcements will likely be the next 40K codex, the Khazalite Holds, Kill Team, and whatever is coming for The Old World. Those are the reveals we will be watching most closely once the show begins.

Until then, the useful information is simple: there is a major reveal show coming Friday, an entirely new Duardin faction is now confirmed for Age of Sigmar, and several product lines are about to get considerably more interesting.

We will wait for the actual reveals before pretending we know the rest.
