Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon Arrives for After Dark on 06/06

It is nearly time to return to Armageddon.

The new cinematic trailer has made it official, Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is going up for preorder next Saturday, and Wargame Portal’s After Dark preorder window opens at Midnight EST on 06/06.

At this point, the boxed set has been shown everywhere. The Space Marines, the Orks, the new models, the battlefield extras, and the full scope of the launch box have already made the rounds, so we are not going to waste your time repeating every detail again. You have seen the box. You know it is massive. You know it is going to be one of the biggest Warhammer 40,000 releases of the year.

What matters now is simple: Armageddon is coming, and the After Dark is where we hope to see you.

The Launch Box for the New Edition

Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is the launch set for the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, bringing the conflict between the Space Marines and Orks back to one of the most iconic war zones in the setting.

The box also includes Operation Imperator, a book that is currently only available inside this launch set. For collectors, narrative players, and anyone who wants the full context of this new edition’s opening salvo, that makes this box especially important.

Games Workshop has stated that the set will be available while stocks last. As always with major launch boxes, demand is expected to be high, and once allocations are gone, they are gone.

Armageddon: Season of Fire

Alongside the launch box, Games Workshop also revealed Armageddon: Season of Fire, a new novel by Jude Reid.

Set during the wars for Armageddon, the story follows an Astra Militarum officer, an Adepta Sororitas Sister Superior, and a Blood Angels Space Marine as they brace against the endless Ork horde. It is exactly the kind of grim, desperate battlefield story that fits this release window perfectly.

The novel will be available in English, French, and German editions.

White Dwarf 525

White Dwarf 525 is also on the way, and this one brings some serious spectacle with a focus on Cogforts.

The issue includes designer notes covering the journey of the Cogfort from lore concept to full miniature, along with an update for the Titanic Duel minigame that adds Dominus-class and Tyrant-class Knights into the arena. There is also a battle report featuring Cities of Sigmar forces marching into one of Nurgle’s swamps.

For players who enjoy the broader Warhammer hobby beyond just the main release box, this looks like a strong issue.
