Chapter Approved 2025-26 Mission Deck Revealed – And It’s a Gamechanger
Warhammer 40,000 is shaking things up once again – and this time, it’s all about how you play.
Games Workshop has just announced the upcoming Chapter Approved 2025–26: Mission Deck, and it’s set to transform Matched Play from the ground up. Whether you’re a tournament regular or just looking to spice up your game nights, this one’s worth keeping an eye on.
What’s New? Mission Parameters and Game Modes
The biggest shift is the introduction of the Mission Parameters step – giving players the ability to choose between three distinct ways to play:
-
Incursion (1,000 points) – Featuring brand new unit restrictions and tailored deployments, this mode is designed to bring better balance and pacing to smaller-scale games.
-
Strike Force (2,000 points) – Your standard competitive game size, now streamlined through the new deck system.
-
Asymmetric War – A completely new format with uneven deployment zones and unique primary objectives for each player. This one’s for those who want narrative spice with competitive teeth.
Each format comes with its own set of mission cards, making setup quick and intuitive.
No More Secret Missions – Say Hello to Challenger Cards
Trailing by 6 or more Victory Points? You’re not out of the game yet. Challenger cards replace Secret Missions, offering a new comeback mechanic. These cards each contain:
-
A powerful, free-to-use Stratagem
-
A unique Challenger Mission you’ll undertake in addition to your Primary and Secondary Objectives
You only get to choose one – so it’s a gamble with teeth, perfect for tactical minds looking for that underdog swing.
Physical Tools Included
The deck will come with punch-out objective markers for ease of use, but for those who want a more durable option, full-size PET material objective markers will also be available separately.
Stay Ahead of the Drop
We’re expecting to carry the Chapter Approved 2025–26: Mission Deck and are hopeful for a solid supply – but be aware that Games Workshop tends to produce these in smaller print runs. Once they’re gone, they can be difficult to restock.
To be the first to know when it goes live for preorder, sign up for our newsletter or keep an eye on our storefront. We’ll also be sharing updates on release dates and tournament pack integration as soon as we have them.
Until then, stay sharp, and check out the rest of the reveals at Warhammer Community or here!
