More Warhammer Products Moving to “Online Only” and Special Order
Over the past few months, we’ve begun to notice a growing number of Warhammer products quietly shifting into the Online Only or Special Order category. This change affects several kits across Games Workshop’s ranges and means those items are no longer available through the standard retailer program.
For retailers like us, that unfortunately changes how those products can be offered.
What This Means for Pricing
When a product leaves the retailer program and becomes Online Only, it must be ordered through Games Workshop’s special ordering system rather than through the normal retail distribution channel.
Because of how Games Workshop structures these items, our normal 15% discount can no longer be applied to them. Instead, these products are offered with a 10% discount, which is the maximum allowed under the special order structure.
While we know that’s not ideal, it’s currently the only way these kits can be made available through independent retailers.
Where We’re Seeing the Biggest Changes
At the moment, the majority of these changes appear to be happening within the Age of Sigmar range. A number of kits from that lineup have moved out of the retailer catalog over the past few months.
However, we are beginning to see Warhammer 40,000 products shift this way as well.
The most noticeable examples recently include several Adepta Sororitas character models, Genestealer Cult character kits, and the bulk of the Drukhari range which have moved into the Online Only category. While there are a few other kits affected across the range, those particular factions have seen the most visible movement so far.
A Small Benefit: Faster Special Orders
While these changes do limit retailer availability, there is at least one benefit to how we handle these kits.
Special Order items are placed daily.
This means that when an order is placed for one of these items, it enters our ordering system immediately rather than waiting for a larger restock cycle. If the product is currently available from Games Workshop, this can often result in fairly quick turnaround times compared to traditional backorders.
Of course, availability will still depend on Games Workshop’s stock levels.
How These Items Are Marked on Our Site
To keep things clear, all affected products are clearly labeled in our system.
On the product page you will see:
-
A “Special Order” identifier
-
The 10% discount applied
-
Additional information explaining the ordering status
This helps make sure there are no surprises when placing an order.
